Marshall To Make Donation For Every Tackle, Picks Up New Sponsor

DENVER (CBS4) - Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall says he'll make a donation for every tackle he completes this season. He also picked up a new sponsor after losing two in the last week.

"In the last week, I've had a lot of productive conversations with people I respect, including Chief (Robert) White of the Denver Police Department," Marshall posted on his Instagram page. "I really appreciate all of them taking the time to listen to me and offer some insight and feedback on ways we can all make a difference."

Marshall is one of several NFL athletes who has been criticized for taking a knee during the national anthem before games.

Yesterday, Brandon met with Chief White, who said they had a "great conversation."

"I recognize and applaud the significant progress that has been made in these areas made possible only through the hard work of so many dedicated leaders," Marshall posted today. "But, it's clear there is more work to be done by all of us. Together, we all need to Stand Up for change. That starts with me."

Brandon says you can track his progress, and where the donations are going to, with the #TackleChange hashtag.

Both Air Academy Federal Credit Union and CenturyLink dropped Marshall as a sponsor after the controversy.

On Tuesday Marshall picked up a new endorsement. Music producer and entrepreneur Russell Simmons offered Marshall a deal with his company Rushcard.
