Rock Slide Above Silverthorne: No Danger To Residents

By Matt Kroschel

SILVERTHORNE, Colo. (CBS4)- A rock slide in the rugged mountains above Silverthorne over the weekend had some residents worried but officials with the White River National forest said there was no immediate threat to the area.

A large plume of dust rose above the slide on the north end of town on Saturday. Some residents thought it was smoke from a wildfire.

"I was taken aback to say the least," said Silverthorne resident Kevin S. Ward.

The slide path was visible from higher elevations in town on Monday. A hiking trail in the area was not impacted.
