Sloter, Northern Colorado Hold Off Abilene Christian, 55-52

ABILENE, Texas (AP) - Kyle Sloter threw for 408 yards and six touchdowns to lead Northern Colorado to a 55-52 win at Abilene Christian Saturday.

The Bears jumped to a 28-7 lead after Sloter fired his third touchdown pass, a 37-yard strike to Alex Wesley barely a minute into the second quarter, but the Wildcats rallied to tie the game at 28-28 with 1:27 left in the half.

Sloter found Trae Riek with a 20-yard pass with 12 seconds left to give Northern Colorado a 35-28 lead at the half.

Abilene Christian took the lead on a Tracy James touchdown run to make it 49-48 and padded the lead with a 21-yard Nik Grau field goal, but Sloter responded with his sixth TD pass, this one a 59-yard connection with Wesley to take the lead for good.

Sloter completed 25 of 32 passes and set the Division I school record for touchdown passes.
