DENVER (CBS4) – A driver was killed and five people have been transported to the hospital after a school bus crashed into a concrete wall at Denver International Airport.
According to the Denver Police Department, the bus crashed Sunday afternoon and a female bus driver died at the scene.
According to authorities, 17 to 20 people were taken to area hospitals.
“Five patients were transported to Denver Health; two patients are in critical condition, two patients are in serious condition, and one patient is in fair condition,” officials from Denver Health Medical Center said in a statement released Sunday evening.
Children’s Hospital Colorado released a statement saying they received five patients from the crash who are all listed in fair condition.
According to Joe Ferdani with the Adams 12 School District, the bus was carrying the Legacy High School football team which had just returned from playing a game out of state. Legacy High is located in Broomfield.
According to DIA, the crash happened on the fourth level on the east terminal.
