Mount Evans Closed For The Season

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – It’s a sure sign that summer is winding down, Mount Evans has closed for the season.

The Colorado Department of Transportation closed the 5-mile stretch from Summit Lake to the 14,264-foot peak on Tuesday morning.

The lower segment from Echo Lake to Summit Lake will stay open until early October if the weather permits.

The highway usually reopens for the summer season on the Friday before Memorial Day.
