Police Officer Crashes 5-Year-Old's Party, But All Ends Well

DENVER (CBS4) - While police officers usually crash parties to break them up, one officer actually showed up as a welcomed guest.

According to the Denver Police Department's Facebook page, Lt. Levens was at the Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan's Lake and was approached by the mother of a young boy named Jonah.

"(Jonah) was about to turn 5 in a couple weeks. She explained that she hoped to surprise Jonah with a visit from a real-life police officer during his party, as the now 5-year-old is a huge fan of the cape-less superheroes. Lieutenant Levens delivered in the form of Officer Ruben Rojas."

Rojas surprised the birthday boy at the party with a toy squad car, "stickers, temporary tattoos, and pencils for all the kids." He also let the kids run the lights and loud speaker in his police cruiser.

"We don't normally get invited to parties, we usually just crash 'em … so this was a nice change of pace," the Facebook post says. "Kudos to Lieutenant Levens and Officer Rojas for making this birthday party one for the books and many happy returns, Jonah!"
