The organization can host up to 110 volunteers on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 11.a.m.. Volunteers will be participating in alley clean-up projects in Denver's Westwood neighborhood. They'll be joining residents from the neighborhood to pick up trash, pull weeds, and trim overgrown bushes and trees.

"If where you live… where you're surrounded with… is a clean, safe, nice environment, you tend to feel better about yourself, about your life, and circumstances," Bomgaars told CBS4.

Extreme Community Makeover has seen tremendous results in some of the alleys that they've cleaned up. With residents making the effort to keep them clean.

"What Extreme Community Makeover is about is bringing volunteers and Denver residents to say, 'How can we be good neighbors and really work together to complete outside home and neighborhood improvement projects,'" Bomgaars explained.

Xcel Energy's Day of Service is Saturday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. When you sign up, you'll get an e-mail that explains the details and requirements of your project.
