Victim In Deadly Crash Remembered By Family, Friends

DENVER (CBS4)- Friends and family gathered on Saturday to remember a man who was killed in a deadly crash. John Jefferson's vehicle was struck on Federal Boulevard near Interstate 76 last week. He did not survive.

Jefferson's girlfriend, who he intended to make his wife, planned the vigil at a Denver park to remember what a great man he was.

"I just sobbed and sobbed, because I've been robbed. I've been robbed of him and our life together," said Rosie Jefferson.

Jefferson, a father and step-father of seven children, was killed last weekend after he was involved in a serious crash on Federal Boulevard near I-76.

The Colorado State Patrol said that Jefferson's silver Hyundai was slammed into by a Chevy, sending his vehicle into a light pole. Jefferson did not survive.

The initial investigation revealed that the high-speed crash may have been the result of street racing. The other vehicle involved sped away from the crash scene.

Last summer the Colorado Department of Transportation completed a $2 million project to install medians and street lights along the stretch of Federal where the crash happened.

Jefferson's friends and family urge the driver or possibly passengers in the other vehicle to come forward to do the right thing.
