Southwest Crash Suspect's Father: Son Has Meth Addiction

OMAHA, Neb. (CBS4) - The father of a man who allegedly stripped down to his underwear and crashed a pickup into a Southwest Airlines plane in Omaha bound for Denver International Airport has revealed some details about his son.

Delario Koonce has been arrested and charged with theft, criminal mischief and trespassing.

Eppley Airfield Police Chief Tim Conahan says an officer spotted Koonce,35, outside the terminal Thursday evening, screaming that people were trying to kill him. When officers approached, Koonce ran, climbed a fence into the gate area, undressed and stole an airline pickup. He drove into the plane, which was headed to Denver, as passengers were boarding.

Koonce's father told the Omaha World Herald newspaper that his son has a meth addiction and mental health issues.

The crash caused nearly $1 million in damage. Three people were injured.

All passengers were boarded on another plane and eventually landed at DIA.
