Who Stole Broncos Player's Helmet? Police Want To Know

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Photos released by police on Thursday show two males who are believed to have stolen the helmet of a Broncos player at team headquarters.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office isn't saying which player's helmet was taken, but they said the crime happened after practice on July 31 during an autograph session. That was Day 4 of Denver Broncos training camp.

"The player had gone to meet with fans, set his helmet down beside him and during that distraction, somebody took off with his helmet," said Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Julie Brooks.

Investigators said the Broncos state-of-the-art camera system caught the two men in the act.

Two photos have been released. One shows a man with an orange hat who police say was the one who grabbed the helmet and then passed it to another male. The other photo shows that second male, who is wearing a jersey with the number 18 on it.

The males were then seen leaving Broncos headquarters together "with what appeared to be a family," according to police.

"You can see the suspect clearly with the helmet. You can see him hand it off to the second person and then they proceed to leave the area, cover it up and they put it in a stroller," said Brooks.

The helmet is valued at more than $400 and it has a Broncos logo on it.
