DENVER (CBS4) As a kick off to the Transamerica Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Half Marathon, a small group of dedicated runners went on a fun run through some Denver neighborhoods. CBS4’s Mark Haas was among them.
“What’s exciting about this year’s race?” Haas asked Madora Mak, event manager of the Transamerica Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Half Marathon.
So this year we’re adding a new Saturday 5K, which is creating a Remix Weekend. People can actually take advantage of running for two days,” Mak replied.
The Remix Challenge is to run the 5K race on Saturday, and then do the half marathon on Sunday, for that you get a special Remix Medal.
“Pretty much the big change that we have new this year is the new title sponsorship with Transamerica. So we actually are going to be running right past their headquarters and they’ll have a big cheer station waiting for everybody,” Mak told CBS4.
Runners can also expect that Rock ‘n’ Roll experience, with bands along the entire route.
“Our headliner for this year is G Love and Special Sauce. And I think a lot of people will resonate with G Love,” Mak explained.
The Transamerica Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Half Marathon runs the weekend of October 15 & 16. That will include a two-day expo, the 5K, the 10K, and the half marathon. The race course winds through downtown Denver, the start/finish line is at Civic Center Park, and the post-race concert is also at Civic Center Park.
