Hiker Captures Spray Painters In The Act

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities in Jefferson County are investigating after a hiker on Lookout Mountain captured video on his cellphone of two people spray painting rocks.

That hiker, who said he doesn't want to be identified, then posted the entire incident on YouTube in addition to reporting it to police.

The man told CBS4 he hopes posting the video will make the vandals take responsibility for their actions.

"I see graffiti on trails, I see people leaving trash on trails and I don't feel like there's enough accountability for this kind of stuff, and I don't feel like it's taken seriously enough," he said.

The hiker said he didn't want to be identified because the culprits threatened him.

He said he and his fiancee were on the trail and heard the sounds of rattling paint cans. After capturing video up close of the faces of one of the people, he followed them to their car and got their license plate number.

One of the males responsible is seen in the YouTube video covering his face with a T-shirt apparently in an attempt not to be identified.
