Teens Cause $10,000 In Damage To School

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Two teens vandalized the Montessori Peak Academy in Jefferson County and caused $10,000 in damage.

Deputies rushed to the school located at 9904 W. Capri Ave. about 6 a.m. on Saturday to check out a report of a suspicious incident.

A neighbor told deputies that he heard glass breaking and a consistent banging noise. He also said he saw two people near the school.

When a deputy arrived, he saw two juvenile males that appeared to be between 13 to 15 years old. One was wearing a black T-shirt, black pants, black prescription glasses and had black hair.

The other juvenile had a green T-shirt, blue pants and blonde hair. Each was carrying a six foot silver pipe.

When the suspects saw the deputy, they dropped the pipes and ran. The deputy ran after them but lost sight of them, K9 units responded but were unsuccessful in tracking down the suspects.

More than 20 classroom windows and several glass doors were shattered by the suspects with damage estimated at $10,000.

Classes will begin as scheduled on Aug. 22.
