Fear The Beard: NL Player Of The Week Charlie Blackmon Does It Again

DENVER (CBS4) - As bad as things have been for the Colorado Rockies lately, Charlie Blackmon continues to be red hot at the plate.

Blackmon was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday.

Last week Blackmon led the majors with seven home runs with 13 runs scored and 18 hits.

"In the past it seems like my power numbers will kind of be streaky, like I'll hit a few homers there in a short period of time and then go without for a while," Blackmon said. "I've never done anything like I've done last week."

Blackmon hit another home run on Monday night against the Washington Nationals in the 4th inning.

Blackmon was named the NL Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth of his career.

From Daniel Kramer of MLB.com:

"Blackmon belted five homers over the weekend in Philadelphia, setting the Rockies' record for most deep flies in a three-game series. For the week, he went 18-for-32 (.563) with a 1.913 OPS, thanks in large part to his seven homers and three doubles, plus nine RBIs. He struck out just four times in that stretch."
