A teacher noticed something suspicious in a student's pocket. When asked about it, the student pulled out a handgun and gave it to the teacher.

No threats were made.

The student could be expelled for a year.

"If the principal finds that the student did in fact bring a firearm to school, the principal must a request for expulsion. The school district is required by law to hold an expulsion hearing for the student. If there is sufficient evidence that supports expulsion, that student can be expelled from that school for one full calendar year," Denver Public Schools spokesman Will Jones said in a statement.
