Police Ask For Witnesses To Triple Drowning At Swimming Pool

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Pueblo are asking for witnesses to come forward who may have seen two sisters and their babysitter drown in a swimming pool on Monday.

The two girls, Amaya Gandarilla, 5, and Azucena Gandarilla, 3, and their 17-year-old babysitter, Joo Lee, drowned in the pool at the Pueblo Grande Village mobile home park located on the north end of Pueblo. The sign at the pool reads "No Lifeguard On Duty."

Officers and Good Samaritans in the area tried to administer CPR but were not able to revive any of the girls.

"You just never think this could happen in your own community and it's just, like, shocking because nothing like this has ever happened like this before, ever. No one has ever drowned here. It's always been safe. There are always people, there are always a bunch of people in there. It's just... crazy," said neighbor Marianna Lefebre.

Police said the investigation continues but do not suspect foul play.

"Anytime you're near a pool you need to use caution. Be with some responsible person who knows how to swim," said one police officer.

Authorities say the pool reached a depth of about 8 feet.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for funeral arrangements for the sisters.
