Colorado Ballot Measures Include Voting, Fracking, Tobacco

DENVER (AP) — Petitions to raise the tobacco tax and revive presidential primaries are among the ballot-measure petitions turned in Monday, the final day to seek a place on November ballots.

Colorado also saw the delivery of petitions to see two separate ballot measures asking voters to change how oil and gas drilling is regulated. The energy industry opposes both measures.

Monday was Colorado's deadline to turn in some 98,000 signatures for inclusion on ballots. Those petitions still need to be verified by the state before making ballots.

A universal health care proposal is already on ballots. Those supporters turned in their petition months ago.

Petitions to raise the minimum wage, to allow dying people to access life-ending drugs, and to make it harder to amend the constitution have also been turned in.
