Man Gets Life In Prison, Plus 60 Years For Arvada Slaying

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — A man charged in a fatal shooting at an Arvada home has been sentenced to life in prison plus 60 years.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says 54-year-old Billy Scott was sentenced Thursday for the March 9, 2015, death of 44-year-old Troy Pitman. Scott was convicted in June of first-degree murder and several other charges.

Prosecutors say he got into an argument with Pitman over a bond the victim had co-signed. Scott went to Pitman's home with his girlfriend and licensed bail bond agent, Leslie Barrett, to discuss the matter.

Barrett pulled a gun during the argument, and Scott pulled the trigger. Pitman died from a gunshot wound to the back.

Barrett pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
