Temporary TSA Pre-Check Office Hopes To Meet Demand

GLENDALE, Colo. (CBS4) - A temporary TSA office is up and running in Glendale where travelers can sign up for TSA Pre-check through Aug. 6.

Those with applications can make an appointment ahead of time or walk-in. TSA hopes to process more than 1,000 travelers over the five-day period.

TSA pre-check allows travelers to go into another, often shorter, security line at most major airports around the country, including Denver International Airport.

Passengers also aren't required to take off shoes and jackets in Pre-check lines.

Traveler Lea Olmsted signed up for Pre-check because of the convenience.

"I just got back from Washington, DC. I'm really looking forward to going through without having to pull out things and take off my jacket," said Olmsted.

To sign up for pre-check, travelers need a photo ID. and proof of citizenship.

Andrea Marazzi walked in with her passport but with no appointment.

"They told me the wait would be about 45 minutes so I'm waiting," said Marazzi.

Marazzi is a frequent traveler who says 45 minutes today will save her hours of time in security lines.

"I feel like it's inconvenient if this will help I am willing to do it," said Marazzi.

The temporary TSA office in Glendale, located at the Hyatt Place Cherry Creek, will be open through Aug. 6. with hours on Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
