Surveillance Video Shows Pot Shop Burglary Suspects

DENVER (CBS4)- Clear surveillance video shows three suspects, caught in the act of robbing a marijuana business. Now police hope someone recognizes the trio.

The Cannabotica marijuana dispensary is surrounded by warehouses and the business owners do not believe it was a random act.

The two males and one female drove up to the pot shop located at 219 N. Vallejo Street about 1 a.m. on July 18.

They were cloaked in black with hoods and masks and used crowbars to break through two security doors. Once inside, they were blocked by a third door and failed to gain access. That's when the suspects sped away.

"They didn't have plates on their car so they were prepared. It's something they do quite often, I would say," said Cannabotica owner Megan Solano.

Solano turned over the surveillance video to police immediately. She knows most of her clients because her business operates on word of mouth.

Solano said she had never seen the three people trying to break into her shop.

"Total strangers. It was weird to see and a woman especially, with that much anger, smashing on a door but definitely worry about them," said Solano.

Investigators believe the suspects are in their 20s but they're struggling to get more information. The suspects were prepared to leave with no trace left behind, by removing the license plates from the vehicle and wearing gloves.

Detectives are paying close attention to the suspect whose hoodie slips back several times during the break-in. He panicked while running to and from the getaway vehicle and slammed into the door with his shoulder.

"It's in those moments where we hope people will recognize them," said Denver Police spokesman Doug Schepman.

The suspects were driving a black Kia and were last seen driving eastbound from the business.
