Teen Who Came To Woman's Aid Awarded For His Heroics
DENVER (CBS4) - Last November David Ponce witnessed a man attacking a woman in downtown Denver.
Ponce pushed off the attacker and then helped police track him down.
With his proud family in the crowd on Friday at a ceremony in Denver, Ponce was honored for his bravery with the Bill Daniels Neighborhood Hero Award.
"When I turned around and saw the elder lady, I thought about my grandma. If she was in that that situation I would go right away," Ponce said. "Plus, I was taught to protect everybody, no matter their looks or how they are."
In addition to the recognition Ponce got on Friday, he was given a $500 check.
The criminal he helped capture is facing two years in prison.
