By Jennifer Brice

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - A missing woman's family says they haven't heard from her in several weeks.

The last time Charlene Voight of Littleton had a phone conversation with her family was on June 29.

Marilyn Voight is Charlene's sister. She lives in California and spoke to CBS4's Jennifer Brice by phone. She says the situation has been a complete nightmare. She never imaged her older sister would be missing. She says the 36-year-old Recently moved to Colorado from California to live with her long-term boyfriend, Jeffrey Beier.

Voight's family knew something was wrong when she stopped returning messages.

"The whole family is heartbroken right now," Marilyn Voight said. "We're all just trying to stay positive."

Littleton police are now investigating Charlene's disappearance. Police say they have two crime scenes that they have processed for evidence -- the lot where her car was found and a nearby apartment. Family says Charlene and Beier were living at the apartment.

Police have not named a suspect or a person of interest in this case but say it's still an active investigation.

Cmdr. Trent Cooper with the Littleton Police Department says they would like to figure out what happened to Charlene.

"We have yet to be able to do that," Cooper said. "It's a difficult case, putting a lot of time and effort into it as you can imagine, and we will until we figure it out."

As detectives began digging, they say Beier was arrested for an unrelated sex assault involving another woman.

Charlene's car was also found on an empty dirt lot in Littleton off Rio Grande near where the couple recently moved to from Parker. The registered landowner of the dirt lot told CBS4 he just sold it to Beier on June 27.

Police will not release many details about their investigation into Charlene's disappearance, but they do need tips from the public.

Police also say there was a previous domestic violence case between Charlene and Beier out of California with her as the victim.
