DUI Crash Victim Now Dealing With Flooded Apartment

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - A family already reeling from the aftermath of a drunk driving accident is now coping with damage from a flood.

A suspected drunk driver hit Diondre Moore, 21, earlier this month as he was walking home from work. He has a broken neck, leg and ribs.

More recently, his mother, Jennifer Moore, found her apartment flooded. Gallons of water had poured out of a broken pipe.

"Twenty-five to 30 gallons a minute were flowing out into my apartment," she told CBS4.

She was preparing to take care of Diondre, but many of her belongings ended up in the dumpster.

Diondre worked at 7-Eleven and his mother said the company has been supportive.

"They raised money to buy him a new bed," she said.

Moore didn't have renter's insurance and her son didn't have insurance, making for a tough situation.

Still, this family is trying to look to the future. "There is a plan somewhere in all of this," Moore said. "And it's getting better, we'll get better."

Additional Resources

There is a GoFundMe page set up to help with Diondre Moore's medical expenses.
