Beaver Creek Fire Burns 19,460+ Acres

WALDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - The Beaver Creek Fire continued to burn on Tuesday, growing to 19,464 acres with only five percent containment.

The Beaver Creek Fire continues to burn along the Colorado-Wyoming state line with 232 firefighters on the ground.

Three helicopters and 19 engines are being used in the firefight.

What sparked the fire on June 19 remains under investigation.

Despite strong winds, the fire's footprint didn't change much overnight. A Red Flag Warning was issued for warm, dry and windy conditions until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire continues to burn and has spread to the northwest and northeast areas, including into sage and grassy fuels. The fire continues to be fueled by beetle kill trees.
