Hometown Players Hit The Court For Nuggets Summer League

DENVER (CBS4)- Josh Adams and Josh Scott are part of the Nuggets Summer League Squad but because of the numbers game, they're probably not part of the team's long-term plans. But that's not stopping either of the Joshes from chasing their basketball dream.

Josh Adams will always have the most dramatic ending to a 5A State Championship game in Colorado.

"The tip was one of the most memorable moments of my life. It was a storybook ending for myself, so… it will always be with you," said Adams.

That same year, in slightly less dramatic fashion, the State Player of the Year Josh Scott led Lewis-Palmer to a 4A State Championship.

"I remember some key plays, one of my teammates taking a charge… you remember stuff like that. I'll probably remember it the rest of my life," said Scott.

The new kings of the Colorado prep court didn't stray too far from home when they made their college decisions.

Adams took his high-flying, explosive game to one of the few Division 1 schools to offer him a scholarship: the University of Wyoming.

"As soon as I got that call from Wyoming, all that went out the door and I was just focused on proving to everybody that I could be one of the best players in college basketball and that's what I strive for every day, but it's not like I hated teams for not looking at me. I just wanted to prove to them that I was better than they gave me credit for," said Adams.

While Scott continued to be a model of efficiency and consistency in Boulder, leading the University of Colorado Buffs to three NCAA tournaments in his four years.

"I wish we would have gotten more wins in the tournaments but very proud of the group of people that I was with," said Scott.

Now the two are teammates for the first time ever in the Summer League Squad for their hometown Denver Nuggets.

When asked if there was a bond between the two of them, both playing for the hometown league, Scott replied, "I would say so. Except for the fact that he's from Wyoming, and they beat our butts a couple of times."

"We've had some battles, Colorado got the best of us a couple of times, we got the best of them a couple of times, so it's definitely a different atmosphere but I think we're both happy to be on the same team," said Adams.

On the same team and with a common goal—to find a home in the NBA.

"It's nice to actually be out here and be playing," said Scott.

"I don't think anybody is an outcast, I don't think anybody is not worth a shot. I'm definitely going to come out here and give it my all to prove that I can hang with these guys," said Adams.

If there isn't room on the Nuggets roster, there are 29 other teams watching the summer league play.
