Former Cab Driver Sentenced In Sex Assault Case

DENVER (CBS4)- A former cab driver convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve 2014 was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison.

Hidet Molla was convicted in April of second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a physically helpless victim and sexual assault- victim incapable of giving consent.

Molla was sentenced to 20 years plus five years of parole for kidnapping and a minimum of 10 years indeterminate to life because of the nature of the conviction. The sentences will be served consecutively.

Molla has been ordered to pay $270 in restitution and must register as a sex offender.

Molla picked up an intoxicated female passenger at the downtown bar the Ginn Mill in the early morning hours of December 24, 2015 after she had been drinking.

She told police Molla brought her to an unknown home in Green Valley Ranch where he assaulted her. He then took her to her home in his cab.

Police used HALO camera video to track down Molla.
