Fireworks that have a fuse or can be lit are illegal in the City and County of Denver. Firefighters have a growing stockpile of confiscated fireworks that many claim they purchased legally in the Denver metro area.

"We will have patrols we will be partnering with DPD and we'll have a firefighter and a police officer in vehicles together doing fireworks patrols. In the event that you are found to have a firework you could be fined up to $999 and spend up to a year in jail," said Denver Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Taylor. "It is a serious crime."
