Beaver Creek Fire Grows Overnight, Containment Target Aug. 1

WALDEN, Colo. (CBS4)- The Beaver Creek Fire grew about 2,000 acres overnight bringing the total number of acres burned to 11,776. The fire is only five percent contained.

There are about 60 cabins threatened by the wildfire burning near the Colorado-Wyoming border. Beaver Creek Wildfire map

Firefighters from Denver Fire Department are assisting with the fire fight.

Crews have also been warned about the additional dangers posed by pine beetle kill in the fire lines. What sparked the fire on June 19 remains under investigation.

There are nearly 500 firefighters battling the blaze with a target of full containment of Aug. 1.
