Unsettled Thursday Evening, Hot For Friday

By Justin McHeffey

DENVER (CBS4) – Thunderstorms rolled through the Denver metro area on Thursday night with some of the most impressive lightning we've seen all season. At one point, there were over 1,500 lightning strikes statewide over a period of 15 minutes. Heavy rain came with some of the slower storms, but generally the moisture was a welcome sight.

Warmer weather is on tap for Friday. Expect highs in the middle 90s with lots of sunshine through the morning. We'll see increasing cloud cover through the afternoon and another round of thundershowers for the metro area.

The weekend is shaping up to be a beauty. Look for the middle 80s on Saturday and Sunday with dry conditions along the Front Range. We may enter a cooler pattern by the middle of next week with more moisture in the forecast.
