Cooler Today, Active Afternoon Tomorrow

By Justin McHeffey

DENVER (CBS4) - It was 21 degrees cooler in downtown Denver Wednesday. We can thank the cold front and cloud cover for keeping our temps at a comfortable 80 degrees. We climb back into the 90s Thursday with a better chance for storms in the afternoon.

Southerly winds will be with us for most of Thursday. That brings more humidity into the area and create a favorable environment for storms, and it will also cause temps to jump 10 degrees. Watch for lightning, hail, wind, and heavy rain with the storms in Denver — we could even see some severe weather out on the plains.

Friday will be warm again with highs in the middle 90s. Widespread moisture isn't expected but a few thundershowers could develop in the afternoon. This weekend looks great with lots of sunshine and highs in the middle 80s!
