Teen Accused Of Burglarizing Breckenridge Pot Dispensary Twice

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Breckenridge have arrested a teen accused of burglarizing a marijuana dispensary twice in the last two months.

According to police, the Breckenridge Organic Therapy located at 1900 Airport Road was burglarized the first time on May 23.

"The suspects attempted to disable the security system, broke a window and entered the building. Various items were taken from the business, the value of which was estimated at $6,000," Colleen Goettelman with Breckenridge police said in a statement.

The same business was burglarized again on June 15.

"Officers arrived and discovered the business had been burglarized in a similar manner as the first time. The suspects involved in the second burglary removed various items including two cash drawers, the total value of which was estimated at $9,900," Goettelman said.

Officers received information that two cash register drawers had been dumped at a trailhead in the French Gulch area.

"Department personnel recovered the cash drawers, followed up on several leads, and examined video footage from businesses in the area."

The investigation led to a police to Kauihou Kanamu-Santos, 19, who was arrested for the crimes after officers found evidence of the burglaries in his residence.

"Other items were also recovered in the residence that had been taken during several vehicle break-ins that had also occurred on High Street on June 15."

Kanamu-Santos has been charged in the two cases. He remains in custody on a $15,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in court on July 12.

"A second juvenile suspect was also identified as being involved in the burglaries."
