Man Arrested In Connection With Suspicious Death Of Woman At Motel

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a suspicious death at a motel in Lakewood.

According to Lakewood police, just before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday officers responded to the Blue Sky Motel located at 6205 West Colfax Avenue after the manager found a dead woman in a room.

The woman has been identified as Lisa Marie Atteberry, 34.

"The cause of death is currently inconclusive and pending the results of a toxicology examination," police said in a statement. "The facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Ms. Atteberry were deemed suspicious due to the young age of Ms. Atteberry and no apparent evidence contributing to the cause of her death."

Police determined Atteberry rented the room with a man identified as Gary Dodd, 51, who turned himself in to the Denver Police Department on an unrelated arrest warrant.

After collecting evidence and interviewing family and friends of both Atteberry and Dodd police obtained an arrest warrant for Dodd in connection with Atteberry's death.

"Mr. Dodd is being charged with murder in the first degree, violation of a restraining order, and domestic violence," police said.
