Search For Evidence Takes Place In Doolittle Murder Case

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators in Larimer County are working with the FBI in an effort to recover evidence in the Ashley Doolittle murder case as the suspect was transferred back to Larimer County.

Tanner Flores, 18, of Berthoud, allegedly told police he shot and killed his 18-year-old high school ex-girlfriend and drove her body from Colorado's Front Range to Mesa County on the Western Slope. Flores was arrested a week ago near the town of Collbran, and Flores's body was recovered in his truck.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said a search for certain evidence began Friday morning at Interstate 25 and Highway 66 near Longmont. They said members of an FBI team are assisting with their search.

So far it's not clear what they are searching for, but police asked that people who witness the search going on try not to interfere.

Flores was still in custody in Mesa County earlier this week but was transferred to Larimer County to face murder charges on Friday afternoon. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail at 2:36 p.m. for first-degree murder, felony murder and second-degree kidnapping.

A funeral for Doolittle was taking place on Friday in Loveland.
