Hot, Dry Conditions A Concern For Campers

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- Fire danger is a concern in Colorado with all the recent hot, dry and windy weather.

A car fire in Boulder County spread to nearby trees on National Forest Service land five miles north of Nederland.

Firefighters quickly got the fire under control but have a warning for campers.

"It's been dry for the last couple of weeks. We had one day of rain and that's about it. So, our vegetation which was growing like gangbusters throughout May is already starting to lose some of its moisture and becoming more prone to catching fire," said Lake Dillon Fire Rescue firefighter Steve Lipsher.

Firefighters want to remind visitors to make sure campfires are completely out. Also, don't park a vehicle in tall grass because that can easily start a fire.
