Tuition Money Stolen From High School Graduate's Home

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- A Fort Collins teen says her plans to attend nursing school are ruined after someone stole tuition money from her home.

Tuesday night Paz Roberts left home for two hours to swim at the pool at her apartment complex.

When she returned, she found the family's dog barricaded in a bedroom and nearly $600 cash that she received for graduation gifts -- gone.

The money would have been used to pay for a certified nursing assistant's course.

"That money meant a lot to me because high school was never an easy road for me. It didn't really come easy to me," said Roberts.

"She had a goal and she did everything she needed to do to achieve that goal and to have someone cut a screen and come into my house and take that from her in a matter of minutes... hurts my heart," said Meg Roberts.

Police in Fort Collins are investigating. The family has set up a GoFundMe page in hopes of raising enough money to cover tuition.
