Hickenlooper Aide Joins Colorado Clinton Campaign

DENVER (AP) — Alan Salazar, Gov. John Hickenlooper's chief policy officer, is joining Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign as a senior adviser for the battleground state of Colorado.

Salazar told The Associated Press on Thursday he is taking a leave of absence from Hickenlooper's administration and will return after the campaign.

Salazar says he is joining a group of senior political advisers in key battleground states such as Colorado, Nevada and Ohio. His focus is on the Colorado campaign, and one of his priorities will be the Latino electorate in Colorado and neighboring states.

Salazar has served with former U.S. Sens. Mark Udall, Gary Hart and Tim Wirth and former Gov. Roy Romer.
