Boulder Police Ticket Kids -- This Time For Good Behavior

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Boulder are targeting kids who do something good by giving them tickets.

The Boulder Police Department is teaming up with Boulder Parks and Recreation to celebrate good behavior through a program called Boulder Stars.

Officers will issue stars to children ages 3 to 18, caught in the act of doing something good. Appropriate actions include helping another person, wearing bicycle helmets, observing crosswalk rules and participating in a positive activity in the community.

A Boulder Star can be redeemed for one free day pass to any of the city's recreation centers, pools or the Boulder Reservoir. A parent or guardian can accompany a child under the age of 12 at no cost.

"The Boulder Star's Program was developed as a way for our officers to connect with younger members in our community in a non-law enforcement situation and establish rapport," said Boulder Police Chief Greg Testa in a statement.
