Veteran Memorized More Than 2,300 Names Of Fallen Soldiers On Memorial Wall

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A man visiting Colorado Springs is celebrating Memorial Day with brainpower.

Ron White is a Navy veteran and national memory champion. He spent 10 hours writing more than 2,300 names of fallen veterans from Afghanistan on a memorial wall -- and he did it all from memory.

White embarked on a cross country tour, writing those 2,300 names on a traveling wall in 20 different locations.

"I think it's important for people to see the wall, and see the scope of the sacrifice, and I think it's a cliché to say they sacrificed for our freedoms, but they really did," White said.

White says it took him 10 months to memorize the names and ranks of all the soldiers. He's done it more than 20 times since 2013 and hopes to visit all 50 states.
