Boy Scouts Honor Fallen Heroes With Flags At Fort Logan National Cemetery
DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado Boy Scouts honored fallen heroes on Saturday by planting 100,000 flags in Fort Logan National Cemetery -- one at each grave.
The scouts covered more than 200 square acres reading each name aloud, placing a flag, and saluting the grave stone.
Scout leaders say it's an important lesson for their troop.
"It gives them a perspective on what people have done before them and how people have served their country and the sacrifices they have made," said Mike Wells, Troop 324 leader.
The flags will be flying until Tuesday. Then more volunteers will remove them and place them in storage boxes built by the scouts for next year's ceremony.
