Several Tornadoes Touch Down In Colorado, Two Rated EF-1

DENVER (CBS4) - At least 5 tornadoes were reported Tuesday as severe storms moved across the plains of northeast Colorado.

The first touched down in northeast Adams County at 5:48 p.m. and two other brief tornadoes were reported as the storm moved east toward Akron.

No damage was reported from the three EF-0 tornadoes.

As the storm continued moving into more humid air a few stronger tornadoes touched down.

The first developed around 6:50 p.m. and destroyed a pole shed near the small town of Platner in Washington County.

Debris from the shed was found nearly a mile to the southeast where the EF-1 tornado lifted.

A short time later another EF-1 tornado touched down near the Washington County and Yuma County line, destroying a barn by the intersection of County Road 46 and County Road AAA.

According to the National Weather Service in Goodland the tornado stayed on the ground for 29 minutes and traveled a distance of 13 miles.

Significant damage was reported at a hog farm 8 miles northeast of Yuma.
