Man Whose 3-Year-Old Son Accidentally Shot Himself Had Previous Weapon Charge

DENVER (CBS4) - A man whose 3-year-old son accidentally shot himself with the man's gun has formally been charged with child abuse in Denver.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Tagee Robinson, 22, has been charged with one count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and possession of a weapon by previous offender.

"The charges allege that on May 21 … the defendant's 3-year-old son found Robinson's gun and accidentally shot himself. Upon investigation it was found that Robinson had a previous weapon charge," Kimbrough said in a statement.

Robinson is free from custody on a $7,000 bond with supervision. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 23 for a second advisement of the charges.
