Arson Investigators Examine Burned Motorcycles, Sedan

By Stan Bush

DENVER (CBS4)- Two motorcycles and a sedan were incinerated in a fire that may have been set intentionally.

The fire happened just before 4:30am Monday at the Whispering Pine Condominium Complex near East Quincy Ave. & South Syracuse Street in South Denver.

The vehicles were unrecognizable by the time Denver firefighters arrived. The fire started under one of the two burned motorcycles and spread to the nearby sedan. The fire was so hot it started to melt a car parked two spaces away.

A Denver Fire Department spokesman told CBS4 the arson unit is investigating the fire even though a cause has still not been determined. No suspects have been named.

The owner of one of the motorcycles believes he was specifically targeted. He told CBS4 his apartment was robbed two days ago.

Residents of the complex only knew about the fire if they smelled the smoke, saw the fire trucks, or walked by the torched vehicles.

"We didn't know it happened until just now... and here it is 5 p.m.," said one resident.
