All Dogs Go To Heaven, So Do Owls, Turtles, Snakes

DENVER (CBS4)- If all dogs go to heaven, then so do all animals according to one church in Denver. On Sunday, Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church teamed up with the Denver Zoo to host the second annual blessing of the wild animals.

"Indeed no animals were left behind," said the pastor from the podium.

On Sunday, parishioners were treated to a sermon unlike any other with special guests that included owls, turtles, a parrot and snakes.

The nondenominational service featured a procession of wild animals where the lesson was the circle of life.

"It was a great time, I think the children really loved it," said Denver Zoo Vice President for External Relations Tiffany Grunert.

Grunert said the event is a way for the zoo to thank the public. The animals involved in are outreach animals and are people-friendly.

"These are tame animals, many of them you can touch," said Grunert.

Church leaders emphasized the relationship between animals and humans and the importance of animal preservation, especially endangered animals.

"Really it's just a celebration of life and the zoo is so happy to be a part of it," said Grunert.
