Colorado Transportation Initiatives Withdrawn From Ballot

DENVER (AP) - A Colorado business coalition has withdrawn ballot initiatives that would have asked voters for more investment in roads, bridges and highways.

The group, including the Colorado Contractors Association, said Wednesday there could be too many confusing initiatives on the November ballot for its own proposals to succeed.

Association president Tony Milo says the group will focus on a measure for the 2018 election.

Lawmakers this year failed to agree on increasing transportation funding. That led to some speculation that Gov. John Hickenlooper could call a special legislative session to deal with underfunded roads and other issues.

Contractors association spokesman Bill Ray says Wednesday's move has no connection to any possible special session, and that the group will keep working with lawmakers to boost roads funding.
