Woman Suffers Serious Injuries After Getting Trapped Under Vehicle, Man Arrested

LAPORTE, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities in Larimer County arrested a man accused of striking a woman with a vehicle causing serious injuries to the woman.

According to Sgt. James Ramirez with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, just before 7 a.m. on Saturday authorities responded to call about a woman trapped underneath a vehicle in the 3400 block of West County Road 54G in Laporte.

"Subsequent investigation revealed that an adult male and an adult female got into an argument while driving. The adult male was driving and the adult female requested to get out of the vehicle. As the adult female attempted to walk away, she was struck by the vehicle and became trapped underneath the vehicle," Ramirez said in a statement. "The adult male attempted to leave the scene and was restrained by rescuers."

Ramirez said there was a 2 year old child in the vehicle during the incident who wasn't injured.

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Joe Thompson, 22, was arrested and faces charges of first-degree assault, felony menacing, attempting to leave the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, child abuse and domestic violence.

The woman's name hasn't been released.
