Police Search For More Victims After Man Accused In Sex Assault Of Underage Girls

EVANS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Evans and across Colorado are concerned there could be more victims after a man was arrested and is accused of sexually assaulting underage girls.

Police in at least three counties in Colorado, Weld County, Jefferson County and Denver, have filed similar charges against Zachary Myers.

The FBI is also involved in the investigation because Myers is believed to have victimized young girls in other states.

Police in Evans investigated Myers, 22, for an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile, but the other cases allege Myers kidnapped and sexually assaulted young girls.

According to court documents, Myers met girls between the ages of 13 and 16 through various social media sites "and then mentally manipulates them into making them think he loves them."

Investigators said at that point Myers asked for nude photos and if they refused, he threatened to kill himself.

A search of his phone showed numerous exchanges with underage girls that included more than 2,000 photos and 7,000 text messages.

In one case, a victim from Lakewood had included personal information on her online profile and investigators believe Myers showed up at her home. He is accused of dragging her into a nearby wooded area where he forced her into oral sex.

Investigators say in at least two of the instances, the contact with victims started on a messenger app called Kik in which users can connect and chat.

A victim from Denver told officers she agreed to meet and have lunch with Myers. She said he picked her up from school and then raped her in his car in a Subway parking lot.

Anyone with information about Myers is asked to call the Evans Police Department at (970) 339-2441.
