Court Will Hear U.S. Senate Hopeful Ryan Frazier's Primary Appeal
DENVER (AP) — Colorado's Supreme Court has agreed to hear Ryan Frazier's appeal to get himself onto the state Republican Party's U.S. Senate primary.
Frazier is an Aurora businessman. Among other things, he is contesting a finding by Secretary of State Wayne Williams that he didn't collect enough voter signatures in the 3rd Congressional District to qualify for the June 28 primary. The district includes much of western and southern Colorado.
The primary winner will challenge Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet in November.
The Supreme Court on Thursday asked for briefs from both Williams and Frazier before it schedules a hearing.
A Denver judge previously had ordered that Frazier's name appear on the ballot pending an appeal. Votes for Frazier won't count if his appeal fails.
Robert Blaha, Darryl Glenn, Jack Graham and Jon Keyser have qualified for the primary.
