Nolan Arenado Visits Students Who Won 'Random Acts Of Kindness' Awards

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - What do you do to get away when your team has lost six straight at home like the Rockies? For third baseman Nolan Arenado a trip back to school did the trick on Tuesday.

Arenado took over the school intercom at Rocky Top Middle School in Thornton. He visited the school to recognize teachers and students who've gone above and beyond with random acts of kindness.

The winners were nominated through short essays written by their classmates. Students like eighth-grader Kaitlyn Craven were recognized in her classroom.

"We need to share with the kids and it's something that's important, especially in this day and age where we see some crazy things," Arenado said. "I think it's important to get them off on the right step and preach the right things, and this is a good start."

"You never know what kind of day that person could be having or what kind of effect that your kindness could have on them," Craven said. "I think it's really important to be nice to everyone,"
