Think Ticks Carrying Lyme Disease Aren't In Colorado? Think Again

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Experts gathered to talk about Lyme disease in Golden on Saturday.

People in attendance learned more about the migration of the tick-borne illness and the treatment.

Lyme disease has spread across the globe. The Lyme Disease Association sponsored Saturday's forum to bring awareness to a region that still believes that Lyme disease isn't in Colorado.

"We can't think about it like we used to think about it and say it isn't here, so we don't have to think about it. So we try to provide a broad picture and we try to provide the science behind that broad picture," Pat Smith with the Lyme Disease Association said.

Speakers talked about prevention practices, challenges of diagnosis, and the risk of exposure to pets.
