Man Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison For Part In Jewelry Heist
DENVER (CBS4)- A California man will spend 12 years in prison for his role in a jewelry heist in Cherry Creek. A judge handed down the sentence on Friday morning for Anthony Tyree after he accepted a plea agreement.
Williams Jewelers at East 3rd Avenue and Fillmore Street was robbed in February 2015.
Police say a woman who acted like she was a customer came inside the store after being buzzed in by employees. In the process she allowed three men inside with her.
The group then robbed the store, taking an undisclosed amount of jewelry after smashing display cases.
The group left the store, got in a red or maroon SUV and then left. The vehicle was found ditched a few blocks away on Clayton Street.
Sixteen hours after they were captured on video inside the store, the group was arrested following a high-speed chase and crash near San Francisco.
After the crash, Sacramento Police took five suspects into custody, Anthony Dewayne Domino, Sharde Shenay Suwannabart-Smith, Sean Donyell McCullough II, Summer Pavielle Sawyer, and Anthony James Tyree.
According to court papers, the FBI received a tip that they should look at some Instagram accounts. The thieves had allegedly posted incriminating pictures of themselves in Denver bragging about their crimes.
